Created by the designer Christian Haas, the Theano freestanding bath in the new matte colour of grey almost appears to have been carved from stone. The sculptural statement piece breaks away from the traditional white look in bathrooms with a monumental effect inspired by nature.
Warm grey shades are a top trend in modern bathrooms: evoking images of natural materials such as stone and rocks, they create a relaxing atmosphere for daily bathing routines.
The impressive freestanding monolith bathtub combines balanced proportions with geometric contours in a precise and delicate design. Despite its narrow edges and thin walls, the bath is extremely strong. This is thanks to the high-quality Quaryl® material, a blend of tried-and-tested sanitary acrylic and the mineral quartz.
Freely positionable and sitting directly on the floor, the Theano bath impresses with its understated beauty in a strikingly streamlined design that adds an elegant and natural touch to the warm matte grey – a perfect choice for extravagant bathrooms in which minimalist elements create a natural, urban homely feel.
Unveiled at KBB earlier this year, leading Spanish bathroom brand, Acquabella, is formally presenting its new Chrea range; comprising a stunning freestanding bathtub and basin.
The bath has a clever, ergonomic design to optimise comfort, practicality and enjoyment. The soft rounded shape offers a beautiful fluid look and is perfectly complemented by the gorgeous countertop basins.
The style informed large basins are moulded to deliver a contemporary sculptured look. Chrea is made of Dolotek, a resin and mineral material, renowned for its high technical performance, resulting in a super-smooth, impact-resistant anti-bacterial surface in purest white.

Ideal Standard has added to its award-winning Atelier Collections with two new beautifully crafted ranges: Calla and Joy Neo.
The collections combine classic features with modern technology and innovative design. Created by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, the products in the Calla and Joy Neo ranges have been developed with flexibility in mind, allowing them to integrate with a variety of different interior styles.
Streamlining the design process for customers, architects and specifiers, these two collections bring together the company’s sector expertise and design vision, as well as the complete range of Ideal Standard’s products.
Calla
Inspired by the Victorian age and early ceramic production, Calla features simple geometric shapes with strong horizontal and vertical lines, for a timeless end result.
Atelier Collections – Calla
Calla comprises a wide range of ceramic pieces, including elegant basins and pedestals, sophisticated toilets and bidets, and a stunning statement piece – a free-standing bathtub. The basins can also be combined with the more contemporary leg set, giving the product a completely different and more contemporary identity.
Joy Neo
Joy Neo represents an evolution of classicism, combining features from the more contemporary and cylindrical Joy collection with classic, square design elements, and either cross or lever-handles. The result is a highly versatile and sophisticated range of fittings that can be perfectly combined with neo-classical ranges similar to Calla, but also with more minimalist ceramic lines, such as Ideal Standard’s Extra.
Joy Neo offers a comprehensive variety of pieces, including single lever basin mixers, dual control basin mixers, wall-mounted basin mixers and 3-hole basin mixers as well as different bath and shower products. Available in two finishes, Magnetic Grey and Chrome, the collection is adaptable to suit any space.
Sustainable features
The EcoFlow regulator reduces water consumption down to 5 litres per minute for a more sustainable use of water without compromising on comfort. It is effortless to install, with EasyFix® decreasing installation time by 30%.
The Magnetic Grey products are produced using the latest technology – Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) – to preserve the vibrancy of the coloured brassware. PVD is a thin protective coating applied in a vacuum, which ensures products are ten times more resistant to chemicals, wear, impact, discoloration and corrosion. Additionally, SmartShine® finishing on the chrome models increases longevity, while also making cleaning easier.
Speaking on the new collections, Roberto Palomba said: “It was never our intention to create collections that can only be used in classic interior design, but instead our aim was to design products that can be adapted and fused with elements from other eras to give customers freedom to express themselves. Innovation, heritage and the needs of the modern day are key elements represented in the neoclassical Calla and Joy Neo ranges.” Both the Calla and Joy Neo ranges are available as of April 2022.

Not everyone’s dream bathroom is a giant wellness temple. Using products that optimise available space opens opportunities for personal expression, even in small bathrooms.
Dura Square
From the washbasin through the shower and toilet right up to the free-standing bathtub – Duravit says its portfolio includes compact product variants that incorporate a range of materials, surfaces, and colours to create that personal feel-good factor.
Popular designer ranges such as Cape Cod by Philippe Starck (pictured top) or Viu/XViu from sieger design offer the perfect choice for compact rooms. With its organically curved forms the free-standing Cape Cod bathtub, measuring 1650 x 780 mm, is eye-catching in a room of any size.
No compromise is needed with the matching tall and semi-tall cabinets they provide excellent storage space for small bathrooms. Vanity units, starting at a size of 420 mm, offer additional storage options, such as the otherwise unused space under the washbasin.
The feel-good atmosphere in the compact bathroom can be further enhanced with the strategic positioning of bathroom embellishments, accessories, and plants as well as the interplay of welcoming light sources.
